President's Visit 12 September 2007
Wednesday, September 12, was a day of bouquets and accolades all round as hundreds crammed into the grounds of the Star Garden, Rosscarbery, to listen to an inspiring speech by Ireland’s First Lady. Landing earlier than scheduled by helicopter on the local GAA pitch, President Mary McAleese and her husband, Dr. Martin McAleese, were welcomed by a sea of flag-waving pupils from St. Mary’s Girls National School, Ardagh Boys National School and Mount St. Michael Secondary School.
