The Rosscarbery & District Historical Society was founded in 1995. Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from October to April, with the exception of December. Field trips are organised during the summer months, apart from August. The annual general meeting is held early in October of each year. Meetings and outings are well attended, and there is a lot of interest in local history generally. Check the homepage of www.rosscarbery.ie for schedule of upcoming events.
In 1999 the Society published its first journal, "Rosscarbery Past & Present". The journals of the Society have been published around the end of November each year since then and have turned out to be a very popular present from local residents to relatives and friends around the globe. All the editions are currently available.
